The Board of Directors approved a trial "By Mail Election" on February 20, 2009 for conducting the 2009 District Election for seats on the Board of Directors. Directors serve 4 year terms and this year 2 seats are up for election. Included on the ballot is a voter question asking if the "By Mail Election" process should be continued in the future or not. If "By Mail" elections are approved by the voters, election costs will be reduced by 1/2 the traditional costs of conducting the odd year polling place walk in method of voting for District Directors. This question only applies to the odd year elections where District elections occur. Even year elections for General Elections remain unchanged as the normal polling place method for physical walk in voting procedures.
All registered voters in the district have already received ballots from the County Registrar of Voters. Instructions state that all ballots must be received by 8:00pm on August 25, 2009. Ballots should be mailed in time to comply with this deadline requirement. AS A COURTESY FOR THIS ELECTION, THE REGISTRAR OF VOTERS WILL PROVIDE A DROP OFF LOCATION AT THE ARROWBEAR FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR LATE BALLOTS TO BE DROPPED OFF. The address is 33045 State Highway 18 in Arrowbear. A POLLING WORKER WILL BE AVAILABLE TO RECEIVE BALLOTS FROM 9:00AM TO 6:00PM ONLY ON ELECTION DAY 8/25/09.
Directors elected at this election take office on December 4, 2009. We hope this information will facilitate timely return of registered voter ballots.
